It has been back-to-back good news for Chelsea captain Gary Cahill who was stunned to be recalled to the England squad for next month’s World Cup, having not played for his country since the beginning of September. And now, the skipper has also led the Blues to the FA Cup trophy.
Cahill who won the trophy in 2012, has revealed three reasons why he is happy with the FA Cup win, as the Blues defeated Manchester United on Saturday to win the trophy.
“It feels amazing, absolutely amazing,” said the 32-year-old. “For a number of reasons.
“One, it saves the season. Two, we tasted disappointment in this competition last year. Three, because in 2012 I won this competition but I didn’t play in the final because of injury.
“So to be out there on the pitch and leave everything out there and win from a selfish point of view is extra special for me.”
