Chelsea Football Club have announced plans for the new 60,000-seater stadium have been put on hold, claiming an “unfavourable investment climate”.
The Blues had been aiming to redevelop Stamford Bridge and move back into their upgraded home in 2021.
The club released a statement on Thursday thus: “Chelsea Football Club announces today that it has put its new stadium project on hold. No further pre-construction design and planning work will occur.
“The club does not have a time frame set for reconsideration of its decision.
“The decision was made due to the current unfavourable investment climate.
