Andreas Christensen, Davide Zappacosta, Willy Caballero, Willian, Pedro and Alvaro Morata all came into the side to face Huddersfield, as Antonio Conte made six changes from the side that defeated Liverpool on Sunday.
Conte said before the game that there was need to rest some players and that the team he fielded could win the game, but it backfired as Chelsea could only get a 1-1 draw.
He said: “The form is good but I think Olivier [Giroud] spent a lot of energy in the game against Liverpool.
“On the bench there wasn’t [Alvaro] Morata so he could rest for the last 20 minutes. He played the whole game, he finished the game exhausted.
“This type of game we can win with the right substitutions.”
