Chelsea’s league game against Liverpool on Sunday could be the most defining game for the Blues this season, as Chelsea’s hope of making it to the Champions League next season could be boosted or marred in this game.
Chelsea No.1 Thibaut Courtois is expecting a tough fixture with the Reds, and while he has hailed the team’s attack, he believes their defence is a weak point.
The Belgian told the official Chelsea website: “Lately you can see Liverpool have had very good games, offensively they are very strong, but you see as well that they can concede goals,’ he explained. ‘I think the game we played against them away, they were in a good moment of form then. We played a very good game and we deserved the draw.
“It was an equal game and it will be an equal game on Sunday I think. When you win a game to put yourself in the Champions League final, you have a confidence and they will be ready to win, so we have to be on point, and hopefully we will get the right result.
“We have defensive stability so I don’t think it will be that open. We always play with a good defensive block and it is hard for teams to break that. But they are very fast on the counter-attack and this is how they score a lot of their goals – with Salah, Mane and Firmino – and we have to be ready for that.”
