The future of Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is still in doubt, as his second season in charge of the Blues comes to an end.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte might just be in his last season as Chelsea manager, with reports strongly claiming that Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is going to be the new head coach at Stamford Bridge next season.
Conte is likely to leave Chelsea at the end of the season after a turbulent campaign on and off the pitch, but the Italian has refused to answer questions over whether he will still be at the club next term following the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield last night.
However, former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot has told the club to be quick in revealing who will take over the managerial hot seat at Chelsea, although he said it should come after the FA Cup final.
“They bring them (managers) in and out, but I don’t think before the FA Cup (final) you want to make any decision – it won’t help the team,” Melchiot told talkSPORT.
“But it definitely has to be pretty soon to tell what’s going on with the future of the club and so the players know where they are standing.
“Because whatever happens, you have to give the team a motivation regardless of whether they go to the World Cup or stay at home.
“You don’t want to leave an uncertainty – I don’t think that’s great and I feel they have been doing it for quite a long time.
“They’ve got to fix that because it’s not good.
“I would not want to be part of a team where there’s no security over what’s happening next season because that will always be playing on your mind.”
