The 2017/18 season has almost come and gone, and very soon the football world will switch attention to this summer’s World Cup fiesta in Russia.
Various countries have been releasing their squad list for the World Cup, and Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr has also released his, and their squad list include four Chelsea players past and present.
Four Chelsea players – one legend, one current player and two loanees – are in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2018 World Cup.
Mikel John Obi will extend his 13-year run in the Super Eagles, and will lead the team for the competition having taken over the captain’s band since the retirement of Vincent Enyeama. Victor Moses, Ola Aina and Kenneth Omeruo also make the cut.
The squad Gernot Rohr announced on Monday was only his provisional squad of 35 players. He has to reduce this to the final 23 players by June 4.
Mikel John Obi and Victor Moses are certain inclusions, and while Ola Aina is highly likely to make the cut, Omeruo’s place remains unsure.
