Maurizio Sarri is still under contract at Napoli despite Napoli relieving him of his job and appointing Carlo Ancelotti as head coach.
Sarri has a release clause of about €8million in his Napoli contract and it seems Chelsea aren’t willing to pay the fee.
According to a report on Corriere dello Sport, Napoli have rejected Chelsea’s offer of €4million for Sarri.
Sarri’s release clause of €8million expires on Thursday this week and if Roman Abramovich really wants Sarri at Chelsea, he should pay his release clause so the club can start planning for next season.
Sarri can’t quit his contract according to Italian laws and the Blues will have to pay even more after Thursday to get Sarri.
It’s obvious Napoli will hold out for the €8million release clause and I wonder why we are delaying our summer planning by not paying the release clause.
If the club wants to keep Antonio Conte, then let’s keep him. If we want Sarri as our new manager, why the delay in appointing him?
