Chelsea had to beat Liverpool to boost our chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season, and the Blues did so, with a determined 1-0 win against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The performance today was one of strength and determination, and Antonio Conte will definitely be happy with his team.

Courtois: Didn’t make a mistake and handled everything that came his way. Was particularly impressive in the first half with some fine saves. 7.5/10

Azpilicueta: Dedicated and hardworking performance from the Spaniard. Was a beast at the back and helped Chelsea’s defence prevent Liverpool’s attacking trio from doing anything tangible in the game. 8/10

Cahill: Marshalled his defence to keep Liverpool’s attacking players at bay. It was a good defensive performance from the team to keep a clean sheet, and today’s victory hangs upon Chelsea’s terrific defending. 8/10

Rudiger: Rugged and hardworking at the back, and didn’t give Mohamed Salah a breathing space. 8.5/10

Kante: Did his thing in midfield and it was effortless. Protected his backline and recovered lots of balls for his team. 8.5/10

Bakayoko: He had a very good first half, and continued to work hard in the second period. 7/10

Fabregas: Worked hard in midfield as Chelsea’s midfielders helped to keep Liverpool from penetrating the backline. Was assured on the ball too. 7/10

Moses: Was very good today. Assisted Giroud for the goal, and was great both attacking and defending. 8.5/10

Alonso: Had one wonderful volley late in the second-half that almost found the back of the net. He combined well with Rudiger to protect the left side of the defence. 7.5/10

Hazard: Was always a threat when with the ball, and delighted the fans with his skills. Was given a wonderful ovation when taken off late in the game. 8.5/10

Giroud: Might not have done too much, but what he did was enough to give Chelsea the three points. Scored a powerful header and used his aerial presence to worry Liverpool. 8.5/10


Willian: Replaced a tired Eden Hazard with five minutes left of normal time.

Zappacosta: Came on for Moses just before stoppage time, and worked hard on the right flank.

Pedro: Came on with less than two minutes to go.
