Russia World Cup star Aleksandr Golovin has been attracting attention from many top clubs, and reports now claim Chelsea are leading the race to sign the CSKA Moscow man.
Chelsea are now leading the pack after Juventus reportedly pulled out of a deal for the Russian World Cup star.
Serie A giants Juventus appeared to be winning the race to secure Golovin’s signature after tabling an offer of around £18million for the 22-year-old. But CSKA Moscow are demanding at least £22m to part ways with the midfielder and Juventus have shown an unwillingness to meet their demands.
Arsenal have also been linked with a deal for Golovin – and Arsene Wenger was a known admirer of the player – but Maurizio Sarri is said to have approved Chelsea’s move for the Russian star as he prepares to take over at Stamford Bridge. Sarri had already wanted Golovin at Napoli, and is keen on taking the 22-year-old to Stamford Bridge.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea are now at the front of the queue to sign Golovin. Golovin has been a revelation in this tournament as he scored one goal and made two assists in the opening World Cup game between Russia and Saudi Arabia in Moscow.
