Chelsea and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois seems to have taken a sly dig at England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after he failed to keep out Adnan Januzaj’s wonderful strike that won the game for Belgium and ensured Belgium ended as the group leaders.

Courtois has been quoted as saying he would have kept the shot out if he was in goal for England and thinks so would have Pickford – if only he had been taller and not “busy throwing his legs in the air”.

Courtois as quoted by Voetbal 24 said: “The goalkeeper is 10cm smaller than me.

“I would have caught it.

“He was too busy throwing his legs in the air.”
