No player gives frills and thrills like Chelsea’s Brazilian defender, David Luiz. From being called erratic to being compared to as a player being controlled on PlayStation by a 10-year-old kid, the Brazilian has had his own dose of criticisms. In all, he still remains one of the best defenders in the world.
His perfect debut as a Chelsea player against Manchester United in 2010/11 season still lives long in the memory of Blues supporters. Boozed of energy and vibes, proved destructive to the Red devils and even scored to the glee of the fans and disdain of the United fans. The charismatic defender became a fans favourite for his attacking intrusions, even though they were in most cases risky and costly.
His exit to Paris Saint Germain for £50m was good business. But returning to Chelsea two seasons ago was sensational. The defender was back and better – helping the club win the title and being named in the PFA team of the Season. Surely, Luiz Chelsea love story is not yet over.
He is just one of the two players, alongside team captain, Gary Cahill still at the club, who were part of our memorable Champions League win at Munich in 2012. His trademark free kicks, lung bursting runs, experience and wowing goals are still needed. With Chelsea lacking leadership in the team, he needs to still be at the club to lead the next Blues army to more success.
Let’s keep the blue flag flying high. Cheers!
