Chelsea are now set to appoint Maurizio Sarri after agreeing to pay Napoli £3.5million in compensation.
According to The Times, Sarri is free to appoint his own backroom staff after accepting the club’s request to install Blues legend Gianfranco Zola as his assistant.
Zola is a fan favourite at Chelsea and is well adored by the Blues fans. The choice of Zola as assistant manager may well please Chelsea fans, but the Italian isn’t really a choice of Sarri, but the club’s decision.
However, Sarri will choose his own backroom staff and Chelsea are expected to dismiss Conte’s backroom staff, which will allow Sarri to bring in his own coaches.
