Reports in Italy claim Chelsea have now agreed personal terms with Laurent Blanc to take over from Antonio Conte as the new Chelsea boss.
Maurizio Sarri was to be the club’s first choice manager, but his contract issues with Napoli have made Chelsea have cold feet on signing the Italian.
The Blues are also being linked with Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic and former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, but reports claim Chelsea are edging closer to appointing Blanc.
The Frenchman has not managed since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2016, but is now ready to resume his coaching career.
According to the Daily Express, Blanc wants to bring long-term right-hand man, Jean-Louis Gasset, to Chelsea with him, but the Frenchman has decided to remain in his post at Saint-Etienne. And this has also put question marks on Blanc’s appointment.
However, Sport Italia claim Chelsea and Blanc have agreed terms, but that the Blues are holding off making an official announcement as Chelsea are waiting to see if Sarri can release himself from Napoli’s grasp.
