France were already sure of qualification for the second round of the World Cup in Group C.

The French squad were up against Denmark in their last group game and needed at least a draw to seal their position as group leaders.

Denmark, on the other hand needed at least a draw to qualify from the group, while Australia needed a win against Peru and hoped for a France win against Denmark to qualify.

Two Chelsea players were involved in France vs Denmark, and the results were favourable for Olivier Giroud and Andreas Christensen who got a much-needed draw. The game ended goalless, and Peru went on to beat Australia – a result that killed the Aussies hopes of making it to the second round of the World Cup.

Danish Football News have now reported a conversation that went on between the two Chelsea players. Giroud went to his Chelsea teammate Andreas Christensen and told him Peru were ahead at the break.
