A number of Chelsea players didn’t make it to the ongoing World Cup fiesta in Russia, either because they weren’t called up by their national teams or their country didn’t qualify for the tournament.

The likes of Cesc Fabregas, Marcos Alonso, Pedro, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Alvaro Morata and David Luiz are some high-profile names that didn’t make it for the World Cup.

It has been reported that Chelsea’s non-World Cup players will return to Cobham on 2 July to resume pre-season training. However, players who have taken part in the World Cup will join up at a later date.

Maurizio Sarri is expected to lead the Chelsea squad next season as the club seek to improve on a fifth place finish under Antonio Conte last season.
