It was previously thought Juventus defender Daniele Rugani would be Chelsea’s first signing of the season but it seems the Blues have made another player a top priority.
According to a report by Daily Mail, Chelsea will look to make Aleksandr Golovin one of the first signings under Maurizio Sarri with a £27million deal in the works.
Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is expected to replace Antonio Conte as Chelsea’s new boss this week.
Golovin, who is also wanted by Italian champions Juventus, has been the standout performer in Russia’s surprise run to the World Cup quarter-finals.
With the English transfer window closing on the day the Premier League begins on August 11, Chelsea have just over a month to assemble a squad capable of fighting for the Premier League title.
