Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel but Leicester City boss Claude Puel has claimed Leicester City are yet to receive offers for the goalkeeper.
Despite signing Danny Ward from Liverpool on Friday to boost their goalkeeping options, Puel insists he wants Schmeichel to remain at the King Power Stadium next season.
“I am not troubled about this,” Puel told Sky Sports.
“Of course Kasper is a very important player for us. He had a very strong World Cup. We need Kasper, with his character, his performance and his consistency.”
When then asked if Leicester had received any offers for Schmeichel, Puel said: “No. There is no problem with this. There is a lot of speculation at this moment, it is normal.
“I think he [Ward] can bring more competition to the squad and more possibilities. It is a good thing to have competition between players in the squad to develop desire.
“It gives good focus and concentration.”
