Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic has been linked with a move away from Chelsea, but the 23-year-old’s transfer has been put on hold since the appointment of Maurizio Sarri.
Clubs in Italy have been keen to sign Pasalic, with Gazzette dello Sport reporting Atalanta have beaten off competition from Fiorentina for the 23-year-old’s signature in a loan move, with the option for Atalanta to buy the Croatian permanently for a fee of £13.3m next summer.
Pasalic who has won six caps for Croatia has impressed during his loan spells in La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A with Elche, Monaco and Milan respectively before heading to Russia last season for a stint with Spartak Moscow. However, Pasalic is still to make a single appearance for the club having arrived from Hadjuk Split in the summer of 2014.
Pasalic’s rumoured move to Atalanta will now be put on hold as Maurizio Sarri named him in his 25-man pre-season squad.
