Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has revealed he is proud of Blues youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The 22-year-old has been an important player for the Three Lions in the World Cup, and Drogba believes he deserves his chance.
Speaking to BBC Sport, for whom he is working as a pundit during the tournament, Drogba said he has been impressed by what he has seen from England up until now.
“England have been a very good team during this tournament so far, they’ve played some good football and they’ve defended well,” the Ivorian explained.
Having trained with the young midfielder during his time at the club, and watched his journey, Drogba is delighted with Loftus-Cheek’s progress.
“I’ve seen Loftus-Cheek starting from the bottom and to see him in the starting 11 for the national team, I’m really proud of him,” he said.
“He’s a serious boy, he’s working hard and he deserves his chance.”
