France defeated Belgium 1-0 in the World Cup semifinal clash on Tuesday, and it was a bill too bitter for Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to swallow.
France played a compact football especially after going up courtesy of Samuel Umtiti’s 51st minute header and Belgium couldn’t find space afterwards.
Courtois strongly criticised France for their gameplay at the end of the match.
He said: “It’s just an anti-football team. ‘Their striker plays 30 metres from his own goal.
“France heads a corner and does nothing more than defend.
“I would have preferred to have lost in the quarter-finals to Brazil, at least that was a team that wanted to play football.”
France striker Antoine Griezmann has taken a dig at Courtois, reminding him that Chelsea play similar football.
He said: “Does Thibaut Courtois think that at Chelsea he plays Barcelona football? I don’t care how, I want a second star to be on this shirt. That is all.”
