Chelsea’s history with Brazilians in its team have been growing over the years. The likes of Oscar, Ramires, Pato, and Diego Costa (Brazilian born) have all played for the club, with Jorginho (Brazilian-born), Willian and David Luiz now still plying their trade at the club.
It was during the January winter transfer window that Chelsea after all efforts coming to naught in the pursuit of Juventus left-back , Alex Sandro – another Brazilian player, decided to go for another option. So far that player has slipped under the radar at the club. A player signed for his potentials and one earmarked for the future – that player is Emerson Palmieri. The signing from Roma was bought to provide competition in the left back position with Marcos Alonso as first choice.
With Maurizio Sarri now in charge at the club, this is just the perfect chance and time for Emerson to look to impress the new coach and win the battle over Alonso. Considered more astute defensively than Alonso, the Brazilian is equally technically gifted, good in attacking areas and physically good to compete and cement a place in the Chelsea first team. Just hopefully he grabs his opportunity to avoid being labelled a bad piece of business by the club.
Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
