Napoli’s football under Maurizio Sarri caught the eye of football fans all over the world and it was nicknamed ‘Sarri-ball’, as his team mixed intensity and short passing football effectively.
Napoli was typified by their attacking football and overwhelming possession under Sarri, with Jorginho central to the play in midfield, and he is confident that he can bring that to Chelsea.
Jorginho will be tasked with being the brains in midfield as ‘Sarri-ball’ is introduced at Chelsea, and the Italy international is delighted to be working under his old boss again.
Jorginho said: “I think I have the right characteristics as a footballer for the type of football that he likes to play, and the type of football that he teaches and passes on to his team.
“When we were together at Napoli, it was a case of me taking on his mentality and putting that together with the characteristics I have as a footballer.
“I think he had a really big influence on my development as player, exactly because of that – he teaches a lot about the game and how you see the game on the field of play, and that helped me to grow.”
