Chelsea on Thursday confirmed the arrival of 38-year-old shot-stopper Rob Green, with Green signing a one-year contract after leaving Huddersfield Town at the end of last season.
However, The Times report that new Chelsea boss Mauirizio Sarri and his staff weren’t involved in Green’s signing and he was not on a list of transfer targets they provided to the club’s hierarchy.
The report claims Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia sanctioned the deal, meeting directly with Green’s agent to convince him to sign the deal.
According to the report, Granovskaia sanctioned the deal to boost the club’s homegrown quota. Although Sarri was given no say in the deal, it is believed he is not annoyed about the situation as he has little intention of ever playing Green.
Other coaches and scouts at the club are said to be annoyed and bemused with the deal however, as their own recommendations and targets were overlooked by Granovskaia.
Green has joined Chelsea camp and took part in training on Thursday.
For club heirachy to sign a player without the involving the coaching staff is uncalled for.. How would you expect them to deliver when you don’t give them what they need….
That was the case with coaches before Maurizio Sarri arrived.
This was how Conte’s job was sabotaged last season. The woman is a bad omen for Chelsea
I don’t understand what Abrahamovic is doing with that woman, she is just causing confusion here and there, sabotaging the coach’s job. She does not have any business with Chelsea football as far as i am concerned. Let her look for another job and not football. Other clubs are spending and they will surely get result. Chelsea cannot continue this way. We need quality and good players that will deliver the goods..that’s all
