Reports from Italy claim Chelsea have reached an agreement with Juventus to sign Gonzalo Higuain for £53m.
According to Sport Mediaset, Juventus and Chelsea have now struck a deal for Higuain and the transfer is expected to be made official after Sarri is appointed as Chelsea manager.
This looks to be a Maurizio Sarri signing, although the Italian’s appointment hasn’t yet been finalised.
Higuain is currently on holiday after Argentina were knocked out of the World Cup by France on Saturday.
With the number 9 jersey unavailable, which other jerseys can Higuain don if he completes the move to Stamford Bridge?
The No. 12 jersey: The no.12 shirt at Chelsea has been vacant ever since John Obi Mikel’s departure in January 2017.
The No. 19 jersey: This jersey was last worn by Diego Costa and has been vacant since the Spain international moved to Atletico Madrid.
The No.20 jersey: The no.20 shirt at Chelsea has been vacant since 2016 when Victor Moses last wore it. Youngsters Matt Miazga and Josh McEachran have also donned these jerseys.
Two legendary names who have worn this jersey for the Blues are two former Portuguese stars in Deco and Paulo Ferreira.
However, with Chelsea expecting to make sales this summer, a better jersey number could also be made available for the Argentine if he makes the switch.
