Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta is excited about Maurizio Sarri and is looking forward to playing under his compatriot, whose appointment as our head coach was confirmed at the weekend.

The full-back knows what it means to play against Sarri’s team firsthand, as he has played against Sarri’s Empoli and Napoli sides during his time in Serie A.

In an interview with the official Chelsea website, Zappacosta confirmed that playing against Sarri’s side is usually very difficult.

“When I played against his teams, it was very difficult because they kept the ball so well,” Zappacosta said.

“When they didn’t have the ball, his teams loved to press and put pressure on, so for the opponent it is difficult to keep the ball.

“He likes to play with great intensity, too, so I think he is a very good manager.”
