Ross Barkley joined Chelsea from Everton in January, and the 24-year-old is looking to break into the Chelsea first team this season, having played a limited role for the Blues last season.

Barkley has sparkled in pre-season in our two matches so far, against Perth Glory and Inter Milan, and he is keen on taking his good form into the new season.

“To earn a regular spot at Chelsea is my main focus,” he said. “Doing well at Chelsea will mean the national team takes care of itself because Chelsea is a massive club and if you’re winning the Premier League, challenging for trophies, playing to win everything then that should take care of itself if you’re producing the goods on the pitch.

“I’m just focusing on what I can do for the club right now but one of my goals is to get back in the England set-up and keep progressing. I will give my all day by day and I’m ready to kick on this season.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
