Chelsea were close to sealing a 1-0 victory over Arsenal at the Aviva Stadium until substitute Alexandre Lacazette struck with the last kick of the game to send the match into penalties.

Antonio Rudiger was left unmarked from a corner and rose highest to head into the bottom corner five minutes into the game.

Chelsea could have doubled their lead when they were awarded a penalty after the exciting Callum Hudson-Odoi was tripped by Hector Bellerin and Alvaro Morata was handed the responsibility from the spot, but his poor penalty couldn’t go past Petr Cech who got down to keep it out.

Chelsea were brilliant in the first half, with Cech doing his best to keep the Gunners in the game. The second half tilted a bit towards Arsenal as Chelsea goalkeeper Marcin Bulka made two fine stops to deny Alex Iwobi and Alexandre Lacazette.

But Arsenal drew level from the resulting corner, sending the game into penalties.

The first 10 penalties were all scored before Cech saved from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Iwobi struck to score the decisive penalty as Arsenal won 6-5 in the shootout.
