The Carbao Cup got underway on Tuesday with the first round of games featuring all the teams from the three Football League divisions minus Swansea and Stoke City.
It started on a bright note for Frank Lampard’s Derby County who won the game 2-0, thanks to Chelsea youngsters Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount who joined the Derby on loan during the summer.
Lampard’s side got the victory thanks to a first half goal from Fikayo Tomori (which was later changed to an own goal) and a second half goal from the highly rated Mason Mount.
Mount’s finish, his 9th goal in his last 10 competitive matches, will remind Lampard of his playing days, as he picked up a loose ball in the box and found the back of the net.
