Frank Lampard was made Derby County manager back in May, and the Chelsea legend has impressed in his first job in management, winning five of his opening seven games in charge in all competitions.
The Rams defeated Hull City 4-0 at in the second round of the Carabao Cup at the KCOM Stadium, and Frank Lamaprd’s side could potentially meet Chelsea in the next round of the competition.
The Blues legend has admitted that a meeting with Chelsea will be a romantic one for him.
Asked about a possible clash with Chelsea in the next round, Lampard told Sky Sports: “The big boys are coming in which will be a great test for us. It’s a competition we want to do well in.
“It’s an obvious question for me [playing Chelsea], it would be nice. For the romantic link Chelsea would be a good one.”
Derby will meet Hull again in the Championship this weekend and Lampard urged his players to avoid complacency.
“We will have to see, we will reflect on this one. It will be a completely different game,” the Chelsea legend said.
“They will have a reaction. We can’t expect it to be 4-0.”
