Young Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek cut his holiday short after the World Cup to start training with the team on July 30 and the 22-year-old came on as a substitute in our pre-season friendly match against Arsenal last week.
Loftus-Cheek who was part of England’s World Cup team after an impressive season on loan with Crystal Palace, is determined to become a Chelsea regular but competition is fierce in midfield where the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Ross Barkley play.
The Chelsea academy product has warned that he’ll leave the club if he isn’t featured this season, and Chelsea star Eden Hazard has come to his aid, telling the manager to feature him.
“Ruben is still young, of course, but I think if we can have him in the team this season it’s a plus for everyone,” Hazard told the Evening Standard.
“I know his quality. He is young, he is powerful. The future will be top for him.”
