Chelsea star Eden Hazard was linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer but a move failed to materialize with Chelsea insisting the Belgium captain isn’t for sale.
Chelsea are planning to offer Hazard a new contract to keep him at the club beyond 2020 and recent comments by his father have boosted Chelsea’s chances of tying him down with a new contract.
Eden Hazard’s father, Thierry has admitted his son may never end up at Real Madrid.
Thierry Hazard said: “I cannot say why it did not go through. Not because I do not want to but because I do not know.
“Next year, Eden will have one year left on his contract but perhaps he never ends up in Madrid.”
Hazard’s father believes it might have been a different story if Zinedane Zidane, an idol of Eden Hazard, was still Real Madrid boss.
“It maybe that it was a different story with Zidane,” Hazard’s father added.
“But then he will have had his reasons to leave.”
