Ross Barkley has been in good form for Chelsea this pre-season, and has impressed in our two matches so far, against Perth Glory and Inter Milan.
Barkley has started on the left-hand side of a midfield trio, with Jorginho at the base and Cesc Fabregas on the right, and he has admitted he is enjoying learning the Sarri-ball.
“I need to keep learning through the new manager,” he said. “He has a different style of play to our previous manager and day by day I need to take on all information from the manager and Gianfranco Zola as well.
“Step by step I want to get a lot of game time, score goals, create goals and towards the end of the season hopefully we can win a trophy, or a couple of trophies. We’ll see how it goes but it’s one step at a time and I’m hoping to start the season really strong.
“I feel like I’ve been here for a long time now, I get on with all the lads and during the off-season I’ve got myself really fit just to give myself a head start knowing there’s a new manager you’ve got to impress and get used to what he wants really quickly, that’s been my approach.”
