Kick-off: Sunday, August 26, 2018. 15:00 GMT
Venue: St James Park
It’s been two wins in two games for Chelsea in the new Premier League season, and Maurizio Sarri will be hoping for a third win away at St James Park.
Newcastle are yet to get a win in their first two games of the season, as Rafa Benitez’s men have drawn one game and lost the other.
This match proves to be a tricky one for Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri must prepare his side for the game. Newcastle are undefeated in five Premier League home matches against Chelsea, winning four and the Magpies have proven to be a bogey team to the Blues.
Chelsea have lost 11 Premier League fixtures at Newcastle and Sarri will have his first taste of this usually difficult encounter. It’s surprising that not a single player in Chelsea’s squad has ever won at St. James’ Park while playing for the Blues.
Maurizio Sarri has had a perfect start to the season and can become the fifth Chelsea manager to triumph in his opening three fixtures, following Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti, Guus Hiddink and Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea have not won at St. James’ Park since 2011. It’s been five losses and one draw in the last six seasons, and hopefully that will change on Sunday.
