Chelsea and Manchester City will meet in the Community Shield clash at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday, as Chelsea will encounter what will be their most difficult game of the pre-season.

Sarri has seen firsthand what it means to play against Pep Guardiola’s champions when he was in Napoli, and the Italian has revealed that Chelsea might not yet be ready to play Sarri-ball against City.

The new Chelsea boss hinted that his team might use a defensive approach to face City.

Sarri said: “The match is very difficult for one reason: they have worked together for two years and we started only two-and-a-half weeks ago, so for us it will be a very difficult game.

“We may have to defend against Man City because apart from the tactical point of view, it’s very difficult to face City. I played City in November last season when with Napoli and they were probably at their best then. It was very difficult to play them, the first 20 minutes was a nightmare, it was horrible!

“I am looking forward to going up against him tomorrow and hopefully we can get the win, but it’s important we have a strong performance too.”
