Chelsea played a goalless draw with Lyon in our final pre-season game of the season, and new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri was indeed happy with the return of his key players.
Skipper Gary Cahill and other stars like Michy Batshuayi, N’Golo Kante, Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard have returned from their holidays, and besides Batshuayi, all four played against the French side.
Sarri is happy to have them back and spoke after the game that he’ll be happy to work with all these players now in training.
Sarri said: “They arrived yesterday or the day before. It was better for them to play 25 minutes than to have a training session alone only with the physical coach.
“They have to work, obviously. I’m very happy. I can work with all my players for the first time tomorrow, so we have only three days to prepare for the next match. And the next match will be for us very important. Very, very, very important.”
