Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri and Pep Guardiola will go against each other in Sunday’s Community Shield clash.
Sarri considers the City boss a friend and even spoke to him before arriving in England to take over at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri has revealed that Guardiola urged him to come to the Premier League if the opportunity arose, and that the former Barcelona boss admitted that the Premier League is a difficult league.
“I spoke to Pep in the summer as we went to visit Arrigo Sacchi together,” Sarri revealed.
“When I was with him, I didn’t know I was coming [to Chelsea] then.
“Guardiola told me that here in England it is very difficult and the level is very high. He had some problems in the first season with results but he says that ‘football is football’ wherever you are.
“He told me to come to England if I get the chance. I think every coach wants to work in England, as the Premier League is the best league in the world and I feel very lucky to be here now.”
