Real Madrid have been linked with two key Chelsea players – Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard in recent years. The Spanish giants have been able to sign Courtois this summer, but Maurizio Sarri has told the club to forget about star man Eden Hazard.
While the English summer transfer window closed on Thursday, foreign clubs can still buy Premier League players for the remainder of the month. But Sarri is adamant that Hazard isn’t leaving.
Asked if he was worried about more players leaving Stamford Bridge this month, Sarri said: “It is impossible. The market is closed for us.”
Pressed on whether Chelsea had made any more progress in a new deal for Hazard, Sarri added: “I don’t want to discuss contracts.
“It is not my job. My job is to improve players, not sign contracts. I have seen a player [Hazard] who is happy to be here.
“Hazard is with us. It is not a problem, I have spoken with him three, four times for everything and he never said something about the market. He’s very happy to stay here.”
