Eden Hazard came on in the second half against Lyon in what was Chelsea’s final pre-season game before Saturday’s clash away at Leicester City.
It was Hazard’s first game under new boss Maurizio Sarri, and the Belgian was given the captain band after coming on. Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill came on as subs in the second half, but Hazard held on to the band till the end of the game.
It has been suggested that Chelsea will now give Hazard the captain band ahead of the new season, but Sarri has insisted that he will have a talk with his players, staff and club before arriving at such decision.
Sarri said after the game against Lyon: “We have to discuss it. I want to speak with all the players, all my staff and my club.
“At the end I will decide. Today is my first day with all the players and I have to decide when I know every player better.”
MY REGARDS TO ALL THE BLUES FANS UP CHELSEA FOR LIFE, I THANK ALL THE PLAYERS AND OUT NEW MANAGER FOR TODAY MATCH WE NEED MORE SERIOUSNESS AND FOCUSES TO ACHIEVE IT THIS SEASON! FOR THE CAPTAIN ISSUE CESAR AZPILICUETA, DESERVE IT BUT WE CAN STILL GIVE IT TO HAZARD TO HOLD HIM AND WIN HIS HEART MORE TO STAY AND PLAY FOR CHELSEA, I LIKE SARRI DICTION AND LET’S SEE WHO HE WILL MAKE CHELSEA CAPTAIN FOR HIS SEASON?
