Chelsea’s move for Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga seems to be gaining ground, with rumours claiming that Chelsea are willing to trigger the goalkeeper’s release clause.
According to AS and Marca, Chelsea want to sign Kepa and are prepared to pay the 23-year-old’s €80 million (£71m) buyout clause, after Thibaut Courtois failed to return for training.
Athletic are said to have made it clear they will not enter into negotiations over their keeper, and that means Chelsea will have to trigger the release clause to seal a deal.
Some rumours even claimed that Kepa is now in talks with Chelsea over personal terms and that Chelsea have met his release clause.
Calciomercato exclusively reported that Chelsea have triggered his release clause of 80 million euros and the player will arrive in London tomorrow.
Marca have reported that Kepa will arrive in London tomorrow and have tweeted a video showing the Spaniard arrive in Madrid some days early and is set to travel to the English capital tomorrow.
