Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma left the club during the summer for a season-long loan deal with Everton.
The 23-year-old who spent last season on loan with Stoke City has revealed that he had to leave the club so that he won’t sit on the bench.
However, Zouma still believes he can become a regular at Stamford Bridge.
“I have always believed in myself since I started playing football,” said the centre-half. “I have always wanted to show myself at Chelsea since I have been there.
“I know injuries stopped me, but injuries are part of football and I want to show people I can come back and play there.
“That’s why I need some game time at Everton because they are a good team.”
Zouma has not played for Chelsea since May 2017, and he admitted Sarri agreed that he should go out on loan.
“He said yeah, he agreed with me,” he said. “I spoke with him and I knew at Chelsea they had five central defenders already. He plays with four at the back, so there are only two who play.
“I knew I needed to play regularly. I didn’t want to stay on the bench and wait for my chance after two or three months, so that’s why I wanted to go.”
