AC Milan defeated Luxembourg side Dudelange 1-0 away from home on Thursday evening, and Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko was on display in that game.
In his press conference ahead of AC Milan’s game against Atalanta on Sunday, AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso hailed Bakayoko’s performance in that game.
He said: “He played a good match, the keyboard fans expected 7 goals. I expect some more insertion, I liked a lot at a tactical and technical level.
“He has great physicality, when he has the ball he does not seem to be technical but he is.”
Bakayoko played 90 minutes in that fixture on Thursday and gave a good account of himself.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea from Monaco last summer for a fee of over £3om, but the Frenchman failed to impress in a Chelsea jersey all season long. New boss Maurizio Sarri also seemed not to be convinced with his performances during pre-season and loaned him out to AC Milan in a season long loan deal, with Milan also having the option to buy.
Bakayoko’s performance seems to be improving, after struggling when he initially joined Milan and had a torrid debut game against Napoli.
Gattuso couldn’t hide his displeasure with Bakayoko’s performance at the time, and said after the game: “Bakayoko has to learn how to get the ball. We must work correctly. It will not be easy.
“One week is not enough to remove the defects of a player. I would have preferred to be managing older, more experienced club players.”
