Michael Owen backed his former side Liverpool to beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup clash at Anfield on Wednesday night. But at the end of the day, it was Chelsea who got the victory and progressed to the next round of the competition thanks to a certain Eden Hazard.
The two sides will meet again on Saturday, this time around in the Premier League, and Michael Owen has warned his former side to be wary of Eden Hazard.
Hazard has been phenomenal this season, and showed his class when he danced around Liverpool defenders and then scored a brilliant goal to seal Chelsea’s victory on Wednesday.
Owen has warned his former club about Hazard this time around.
“He told BetVictor: “The biggest game of the PL season to date with Liverpool looking to become just the second side in the history of the PL to win their first seven league games. Note the other was Chelsea in the 2005-06 season who won their first nine league games en route to the title.
“The Reds have not kept a clean sheet in their last 14 league games with Chelsea and this is the biggest test yet of Liverpool’s title credentials.
“Eden Hazard has scored four times in his last two home PL games and Liverpool need to keep the Blues talisman at arm’s length. I expect to see goals in what promises to be a cracker.”
This match is the game of the weekend and is the biggest game of the season so far, with both sides fighting for the title and just two points separating them.
Liverpool have won all their games this season, while Chelsea have drawn once and won their five remaining games.
