Chelsea have a number of good free-kick takers in the team, as we have seen Marcos Alonso, Willian and even David Luiz take some good kicks.
Marcos Alonso has now revealed that Chelsea have a surprise free-kick taker in Ross Barkley.
Alonso told the official Chelsea website when asked of a surprise free-kick in the Chelsea squad. He said: “Barkley. He stayed behind the other day and was on fire. Davide Zappacosta as well.”
Alonso also told the official Chelsea website that Barkley used to be as quiet as N’Golo kante in the dressing room. He said: “N’Golo Kante is one but also Ross Barkley when he first came was quiet, now he has picked up a lot of confidence.
“He’s a nice guy, very funny. I’m used to his accent from when I lived in Manchester, near Liverpool.”
Cesar Azpilicueta is the team’s captain in the absence of Gary Cahill, and Alonso revealed that the Spaniard as well as David Luiz and Cesc Fabregas try to lift the team’s morale in the dressing room.
He said: “John Terry used to do this very well. In my first year he was very good for us even if he didn’t play that much. Off the pitch he played a huge part in us winning the title and I think now Fabregas, Azpi and David Luiz are all good characters in the changing room.”
