Bournemouth beat Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge last season but lost 2-0 to Chelsea on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe thinks Chelsea are a totally different team under Maurizio Sarri than the side that Bournemouth beat under Antonio Conte last season.
“I thought we did well for long periods of the game,” Howe told reporters. “Chelsea are a different team this year, a totally different way of playing.
“They’ll be a difficult team to play against, but we nullifed their strengths and had the best two chances, chances we didn’t take and we paid the penalty for that with a cruel deflection off Steve Cook.
“I think they’ll improve as the season goes on. Maurizio has a very distinct way of playing, really difficult to play against.
“We prepared well and tried to nullify their threats as well as we could, tried to make it difficult for the individual talents to hurt us. The game was in the balance up to that first goal.
“We knew we’d have limited opportunities to score and would play on the counter-attack. We were waiting for mistakes from them, and they didn’t make many. They kept the ball well and asked questions of our defenders.”
