Chelsea defeated Liverpool on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup clash at Anfield, and the two sides will meet again in the Premier League this Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League under Maurizio Sarri this season but played the full 90 minutes against PAOK in the Europa League, and he also started in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
However, the 22-year-old was substituted in the 73rd minute against the Reds and was replaced by David Luiz on Wednesday, and is now set to miss this weekend’s clash.
Christensen’s substitution against Liverpool on Wednesday was caused by sickness as Goal report that the Dane defender threw up at half-time. Christensen was sick and couldn’t continue the game and will now miss this Saturday’s vital clash against the Reds.
David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger have started all Premier League games for the Blues this season, and the duo are expected to start again on Saturday with Gary Cahill named on the bench.
Chelsea will be hoping to get a victory against Liverpool on Saturday having won the mid-week’s clash at Anfield 2-1. A win for Chelsea will take the Blues ahead of Liverpool by one point, as the title race continues to thicken with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea in the mix.
