Ahead of Chelsea’s visit to the London Stadium on Sunday, former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has backed West Ham United to beat Chelsea.
Chelsea have won all five Premier League games this seasons and the Blues also kicked off our Europa League campaign with a 1-0 win over PAOK on Thursday.
West Ham beat Everton 3-1 last Sunday to end a dismal run of four straight defeats at the start of the Premier League season.
Despite Chelsea having a better form compared to West Ham’s dismal form, Lawrenson is backing West Ham and believes Marko Arnautovic will be key for West Ham on Sunday.
“West Ham had a super win last weekend against Everton,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport . “And they will be hoping Marko Arnautovic recovers from the knee injury he sustained in that game, because he was just terrific.
“The Hammers have lost both their games at London Stadium so far this season, but I have a feeling they will turn up for this one.
“That’s not based on form, because Chelsea have got five league wins out of five, or the fact West Ham are at home, because they have been struggling there.
“I might be going out on a limb in backing the Hammers, but I just think something will click for them this time.”
In the corresponding meeting between the two sides last season, Arnautovic’s goal helped West Ham beat Chelsea.
Do you think West Ham can halt Chelsea’s fine start to the season?
