After defeating his former boss Jose Mourinho as Manchester United faced Derby County in the third round of the competition, Frank Lampard will lead his charges to Stamford Bridge in the fourth round tie.
Derby County showed strong spirit to play a 2-2 draw against United, and ended up winning the game 8-7 on penalty to throw Jose Mourinho’s side out of the cup.
And now, the Blues legend will be back at the ground where he enjoyed elite status as a footballer, and this time around he’ll be coming as an opposition manager.
Chelsea and Derby County have been drawn to face each other in the Carabao Cup fourth round at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard has previously spoken about how it will feel to face Chelsea as a manager. He told Sky Sports back in August: “The big boys are coming in which will be a great test for us. It’s a competition we want to do well in.
“It’s an obvious question for me [playing Chelsea], it would be nice. For the romantic link Chelsea would be a good one.”
