Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata are the only two recognised strikers at the club at the moment, and are both fighting for one position in Maurizio Sarri’s starting lineup.
Just as we experienced last season, Morata is Sarri’s first choice striker, but Giroud has warned the Spaniard that he will take back the starting role as he did last season.
And while Giroud admits it’s good that there is competition for places, he’s targeting a starting berth when the Premier League gets back underway in two weeks’ time.
“The competition is healthy with Morata,” he told Telefoot.
“Last year, I managed to win my place. There is no reason that this is not the case this year.
“The most important thing is to be decisive when you call on me, and I obviously hope to have more play time after the break.”
