Alvaro Morata had a good start to his Chelsea career following his record move to Stamford Bridge last season, scoring eight goals in his first nine appearances for the Blues.

But the Spaniard struggled for the rest of the campaign, and scored just three goals in 22 games in 2018, losing his place in the side to January signing Olivier Giroud.

Morata has now admitted that he thought about leaving England and returning to Spain or Italy.

“Last year I was not happy, everything was a disaster – I went out onto the pitch and did not know where I was,” Morata said.

“Leaving Chelsea? I considered playing in Spain again and going back to Italy but now I have stayed here and need to bounce back.”
