Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been deployed higher up the pitch by Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri this season.
Kante established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders since joining the Premier League, winning two Premier League titles (with Leicester City and Chelsea) and an FA Cup with Chelsea.
Under Sarri this season, Kante has been tasked to make regular run into the opposition box, something we aren’t used to seeing from Kante.
Talking about his new role under Sarri, Kante said: “I am enjoying the role [under Sarri].
“It is a new challenge for me. I try to understand the move and the right players’ combinations.
“I think we are doing well. We need to keep working and keep improving and I think we can enjoy a good season together.”
Kante recently revealed French club Paris Saint-Germain tried to sign him during the summer but he had no desire to leave Chelsea.
“There was no urge to go elsewhere after the World Cup,” Kante recently told RMC Sport.
“There were other clubs interests but after talking to Chelsea, things were clear. The club is counting on me and I feel good. The next logical step was to continue to Chelsea.
“There were some contacts [from PSG]. But after a discussion with Chelsea I realised that the main thing was to feel good where I was. I am at Chelsea. It’s good for me to stay at Chelsea.”
